Sir,
With reference to your despatch No.102 of April 14th,
1921, I have the honour to inform you that the Custodian of Enemy Property holds the sum of 88,136, the proceeds of the sale of 8 shares in the Union Insurance Society of Canton formerly in the name
of the late Gustav Theodor Siemssen.
2. A sum of $19,910, the proceeds of the sale of 25 shares in the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, is held by that
Bank by virtue of Article 28 of their deed of settlement as security for sume owing to them by the firm of Sienssen and Krohn
of Foochow of which the deceased was a partner. Previous to the
sale of these shares the dividends which accrued were employed by
the Bank to liquidate this firm's overdraft.
3. I have further ascertained that the proceeds of 50
shares in the Union Insurance Society of Canton were utilized to
liquidate Siemssen's overdraft at the Chartered Bank of India to
which purpose the accrued dividends on shares in the same Company
held by the Custodian were also applied.
